Ronnie Bottomley and Nicki Allan – March 2023

Ronnie Bottomley wrote brand new arrangements, especially for the event and we were joined by Nicki Allan as a guest vocalist, Ronnie will also directed the band.

Ronnie has been a musician since 1949 and has played for Gene Pitney, Marion Montgomery, Matt Munro, Buddy Greco, The (original) Drifters, Olivia Newton-John, Howard Keel, Bruce Forsyth, The Beverley Sisters, Bob Monkhouse, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and the Les Dawson Television show.

Ronnie taught at the Leeds College of Music for 31 years until 2008. He also played for ‘The Good Old Days’ at Leeds City Varieties Theatre for 45 years and was awarded their long-service tankard recently. It doesn’t stop there, he was also awarded Britain’s best big band drummer trophy run by the BBC and adjudicated by Jack Parnell and Kenny Clare in 1981. Jazz Yorkshire nominated him for their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
